For every, Steve Jobs there are hundreds of unwanted children born to uncaring or serious distresses parents. Many will thrive but a few are abused, neglected bounced around the social service network. Some sadly will eventually become criminal. Some of them will even kill.

Whatever point you are trying to make has a equally valid counter point. Allow each women the right to make the decisions best for her. We have too much concern for the fetus and way too little for mothers, infants and children. Many a Pro-Lifer would happily gut the social safety network the protect children to give a tax break to the top 5%.

Well, I'm not a pro-lifer who favors cutting social programs or tax cuts for the rich.

Abortion is destructive to the mental and physical health of women. This is now well documented, although its effects on society are rarely discussed. Abortion is never the best decision for a woman. Most women know deep down that abortion is not right. They get one because they're pressured into it, or ashamed, or can't afford to care for the child, or because they feel they have no other choice. It's not a happy, positive choice and the experience is a tragic one. PTSD is widespread among post-abortive women. Many who have killed their unborn children struggle with guilt feelings and feel that they should kill themselves as well.

True pro-lifers have a holistic vision--they care about what is best for both the mother and her child. Single mothers who give birth receiving the help and care they and their infants need through crisis pregnancy centers, adoption agencies and other pro-life outreach groups are much happier than uncared-for single mothers who have abortions. That's a fact. We need more real women's health care centers like the one recently opened by Eduardo Verastegui in south Los Angeles.
